Welcome to our shepherds hut here in beautiful Swaledale in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The hut is located in a secluded location with far reaching views of the valley. There is a short walk on a steep slope to get to the hut (this can be slippy when wet- be prepared), however we’re sure you’ll agree it’s worth the effort for the privacy and views. Parking is on the cobbled area at the front of High Gill House. We’ve loved creating this idyllic getaway for two or the solo traveller. We’ve tried to recreate that “den like” feeling , a private and cosy escape from life with a bit of luxury!! The wildlife is in abundance, the curlews, canadian geese, kingfishers, herons, pheasants, rabbits and deer can all be seen. The bird feeders are a constant source of pleasure, extra nuts supplied!!! The night skies when clear, are filled with stars and the owls hoot all adds to a magical experience. We hope we can welcome you soon.
The Area – Swaledale
Low Row is a beautiful Dales village which is fabulous for walking and admiring the scenery whatever time of year. The beautiful drystone walling iconic to the dales and the hardy Swaledale sheep with their black faces graze on the hillsides. The gorgeous chocolate box cottages dotted all over the hillside provide a wonderful back drop to a truly stunning area.
The Punch Bowl pub provides wonderful food and a 10 minute walk from the shepherds hut. Further shops, pubs and cafes can be found in Reeth, four miles away. The fish and chip van visits our village on a friday evening providing a wonderful and easy tea!!! The dales bike centre in Fremington (4 miles away) rent bikes out including electric ones which are great to explore the trails. The bike centre cafe is amazing too for cakes – far too many to choose from!!
